Jan. 20 thru Feb. 15: Circa Gallery, 150 Sunset Ave., hosts "The Power of Color with a Twist of Floral Design" for local Asheboro artist Pamela Poe Myers and floral designer Linda Smith. An opening reception is from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Jan. 20. Appetizers and refreshments will be available. Live music will be provided by Steve Cain. Jan. 20: Friday Night Bluegrass at Sunset Theatre, 234 Sunset Ave., features Family Tradition with special guest Eddie Gill. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the show begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are $5 in advance or $7 at the door.

Jan. 21 and Feb. 18: The Randolph-Asheboro YMCA hosts "Parent’s Night Out" from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Jan. 21 and Feb. 18 for children ages 6 weeks to 11 years and includes dinner, snacks, YMCA staff supervision and swimming for youth ages 5 to 11. Children should wear a swimsuit and bring a towel. Each night is $15 per child for YMCA members and $25 per child for the public.

Jan. 23: To Kill a Mockingbird is the Asheboro Public Library's Movie Monday presentation at 2 p.m. The film stars Gregory Peck and Robert Duvall. The movie is free. Refreshments will be served.

Jan. 24: John D. Gall gives a lecture on Printmaking 101, a primer on the art of printmaking, at 7 p.m. at the Randolph Arts Guild, 123 Sunset Ave. The lecture is free to the public. His work can be viewed at www.johngallart.com. Call the Arts Guild at (336) 629-0399 for more information.

Through Jan. 31: Randolph Arts Guild hosts a show by StarWorks Ceramics artists Takuro Shibata, Hitomi Shibata, Santiago Ramirez Alvarez, Anne Pärtna and Adam Landman in the Guild’s Sara Smith Self Gallery. Admission is free. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Through Feb. 29: Randolph Community College’s Photography Department and the American Society of Media Photographers-North Carolina host a 40-year retrospective of the work of Greensboro photographer Rick Smith. Feb. 25: The Fiddlers Convention is held from 6 p.m. until in the gym at Eastern Randolph High School, 390 Eastern Randolph Road. Registration is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The cost is $5 for adults and free for children 5 and under. A BBQ supper will be served from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Seagrove

Feb. 4: A wrestling fundraiser for the 16U & 18U Knockouts Girls Fastpitch Softball is held at 7 p.m. in the gym at Seagrove Elementary School, 528 Old Plank Road. April 7: The Vanderbilts at Home and Abroad, a display focusing on the lives and personalities of the Vanderbilts, opens in Antler Hill Village’s Legacy building. The exhibit offers a close-up look at exotic and rare items they collected throughout their lives, including an extraordinary collection of Samurai armor and an intricate Cartier vanity and lipstick case encrusted with diamonds and jade. An early Harley-Davidson motorcycle representing the Vanderbilts' love of motorized transportation will be displayed. April 8: Biltmore's annual Easter Egg Hunt is held on Biltmore’s front lawn along with special children’s entertainment including magic shows, music and storytelling. Highlighting the day are the grand Easter Egg Hunts at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Children from ages 2 to 9 can attend the hunt free when accompanied by an estate pass holder or a ticketed adult. Feb. 24 through Feb. 26: The 2012 Charlotte Motorcycle Show is held at the Charlotte Convention Center, 501 S. College St. More than 20 motorcycle manufacturers will be features and hundreds of motorcycles will be on display. New models from some of the industry's top brands will also be unveiled.
