66 Years: Wade & Eloise Lawrence


Mr. and Mrs. Wade Boyles Lawrence of Asheboro celebrated their 66th anniversary with a cookout in their honor on July 12, 2009, at the home of daughter, Joyce Lawrence McDowell, and husband, Nolan McDowell at their home in Greensboro.

The Lawrences were married July 14, 1943, in Cheraw, S.C., in a service officiated by Magistrate JW Ratliff.

The Lawrences have three children: Joyce L. McDowell of Greensboro; Don Lawrence of Mt. Holly; and Vickie L. Renfrow of Wendell.

They have five grandchildren: Tonya McDowell Link of Alton, Va.; Bobby McDowell of Greensboro; Christian and Zach Lawrence of Mt. Holly; and Anderson Renfrow of Wendell.

They have five great-grandchildren: Madeline, Gillianne and Aleigha Link of Alton, Va., and Harrison and Celia Mc Dowell of Greensboro.

Eloise Lawrence is the daughter of the late Clayton Harrison and Ella Nora Ingle Whitesell.

She is a graduate of Randleman High School and retired from the Asheboro City School System.

Wade Lawrence is the son of the late William Jesse and Catherine Virginia Sheppard Lawrence.

He attended Randleman High School and served with the 551st Anti-Aircraft Artillery Division of the 3rd Army during World War II.

He is the retired owner and operator of Wade’s City Auto Service in Asheboro.

The Lawrences are members of Calvary United Methodist Church.
