It’s time to stop pinning and start doing!
On Saturday, March 9, the Habitat for Humanity ReStore will launch Saturday Showcase, a fun, family-friendly event allowing individuals to express themselves creatively while learning to turn their “Pinspirations” into reality at the hands-on workshop led by the professional staff of the Habitat ReStore. The workshops will take place the second Saturday of each month beginning with the first session in March. It’s is part of a series of monthly Do-It-Yourself Workshops aimed at helping people tackle popular home décor projects while utilizing the resources found in everyday items located within the store.
“This is a great way for people to up-cycle materials they have around the house or create great home accessories, accent pieces and gifts from things found right here at the ReStore,” said Ricky Holder, Habitat ReStore manage. “We thought this would be a fun way for friends, families, co-workers and various groups in the community to spend time together doing something productive and fun and different. It’s a really inexpensive way to celebrate special occasions too.”.
The first Workshop will show how to create a serving tray with mosaic-tiled inlay, how to set and grout mosaic tiles, and how to select the right products to update the look of existing materials found at home or in the ReStore. Participants will also have the opportunity to ask resident design experts Annis Bertram and Denise Owens advice on other home decorating projects so they can “design on a dime.”
The event is scheduled for 10 to 11 a.m. at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore, 3060 S. Fayetteville St.
Cost is $20 and participants can take home their creations and receive a discount card to use in the ReStore.
Sign up at the ReStore or call 336-625-1429.
