ENGAGED: Pell-Cates
Reid and Janice Pell of Asheboro announce the engagement of their daughter, Mary Jan Pell of Asheboro, to Foster Bryant Cates, son of Burton and Janet Cates of Graham.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of John and Hilda Pell of Asheboro and Vera York of Sophia.
She is a 2003 graduate of Eastern Randolph High School in Ramseur and is attending Randolph Community College in the accounting program.
She is employed with Randolph County Schools.
The groom-elect is the grandson of Essie Lee Cates of Graham, Hilda Gray Foster of Graham, the late Finley B. Cates Sr. and the late Herman G. “Pete” Foster.
He is a 2002 graduate of Eastern Randolph High School in Ramseur and a 2007 graduate of Appalachian State University in Boone where he received a bachelor of science degree in public relations. He is employed with Aerotek Inc. in Greensboro.
The wedding is planned for 6 p.m. Saturday, April 25, 2009, at Glen Hope Baptist Church in Burlington. Invitations will be mailed.

William Ronald Lucas Sr. and Doris Talley Lucas of Asheboro observed their 50th anniversary on June 25, 2010. To celebrate they revisited their honeymoon site in Niagara Falls and had a family dinner at The Fearrington House Restaurant in Pittsboro.
