ASHEBORO — Randolph Community College has posted its spring 2010 Continuing Education schedule of courses online.
RCC’s Continuing Education courses include noncredit courses in workforce development, business and industry training, teacher renewal, personal enrichment and basic skills. They include certification courses in areas such as nursing assistant, emergency medical services, fire services, real estate, insurance, electrical, medical office assistant, automotive inspection and safety, and welding.
Classes are available on the Asheboro Campus, at the Archdale Center, at the Emergency Services Training Center, and at various locations throughout the county.
To obtain a full schedule, go to RCC’s home page at www.randolph.edu, pull down the Continuing Ed. menu on the top blue banner, and choose Current Course Schedule. From there, you can download a pdf version of the full schedule. Students can also browse through the different categories of Continuing Education classes by choosing Programs of Study under the Continuing Ed. pull-down menu.
For more information on specific courses or to register, call 336-633-0268 in Asheboro or 336-862-7980 in Archdale. Online registration is also available. Randolph Community College will close for the holidays at 5 p.m. Dec. 21 and will reopen at 8 a.m. Jan. 4.

Four local women awarded grants-in-aid
The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, an organization of women educators, has awarded a grant-in-aid to four local women currently earning undergraduate degrees in the field of education.

SECU members award scholarships
SECU Foundation, funded solely by State Employees’ Credit Union’s (SECU’s) membership has presented $5,000 scholarships to Garret Barus from Robbins and Katherine Smith from Franklinville, who are first year students at Randolph Community College.

Stephen Bell, a N.C. State University senior and Caldwell Academy alum, was inducted into the Golden Chain Society at N.C. State on April 29, 2011.

Converse College honors Millikan
Dr. Neal Elizabeth Millikan, daughter of Dean and Rachel Millikan of Asheboro, and a 1997 graduate of Asheboro High School, was awarded the Young Alumna Award from Converse College in Spartanburg, S.C., on April 16.
