Out 49 – How do you celebrate?

How many times in the last few weeks have you been asked, “Are you ready for Christmas?” When that question is asked it’s usually in inquiry as to whether you have finished shopping, decorating, wrapping gifts and all of that. In answer to that question I repeat what I heard a coworker say years ago: “I’m always ready to celebrate my Savior’s Birthday.”

The decorations seem to get more elaborate and more beautiful each year and I enjoy looking at them but sometimes I wonder if we are missing the real meaning of this season.

I asked Margaret Green, a Lay speaker at Piney Ridge U.M.C. to write an article entitled, “Are You Ready for Christmas?” Following is her message:

Are you ready for Christmas? Have you been to Jesus for cleansing power, are you washed in the blood of the Lamb? Do you walk each day in the master’s way, are you washed in the blood of the Lamb, are you washed in the soul cleansing blood of the Lamb? Does your faith keep you moving toward your goal? Are we busy getting ready but not for the right occasion? Christ was born to take care of our every need, we have to do something ourselves to get ready. Pray and obey if you want to be under His care. His love will meet you there.

Whenever we get ready, He is standing, watching and waiting to open His arms and welcome us into His care. Then it will really be Christmas and we will be ready! What a gift to receive, Christ.

C – Christ was born. H – Holy is the Lamb. R – Reverence Him. I – In Him I will but my trust. S – Savior more than life to me. T – Taste and see how good He is. M – Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and all day Sunday, His name is sweet music to my ears. A – Always near me whenever I call. His wonderful love is good for all. S – Stop now and get ready for Christmas. He will never let you fall. I call Him Christmas, Christ; He takes care of us all.

Just keep on praying he will hear your cry and He will answer by and by. He will not push His way in and He might not come whenever you want Him, but He is right on time.

Victory in Jesus

Oh victory in Jesus, My savior forever. He sought me and brought me with His redeeming blood. He loved me ere I knew Him and all my love is due Him. He plunged me to victory beneath the cleansing blood.

“Get Ready For Christmas”

“Receive Your Everlasting Gift”

Thanks to Margaret Green

Until next time please remember:

“The greatest Christmas gift of all was never placed beneath a tree, but lay within a manger bed beneath a star for all to see.”
