ASHEBORO — Hospice of Randolph County will hold its fifth annual Surviving Hearts, a bereavement event for those grieving the loss of a spouse, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Feb. 9. The event will consist of an educational component as well as time for personal reflection, feedback from the group and feedback from the facilitator.
“The loss of a life’s partner is unlike any other loss we will face in life," said Dr. Rodney Otwell, Hospice chaplain. "So much of our identity and personal history is wrapped up in the person to whom we commit to share our lives. When that person dies, we not only lose them, we lose a part of ourselves. The task of mourning well is doing the work necessary to rediscover who we are in light of such a significant loss.”
