Virginia C. Berry

ASHEBORO – Virginia Clelia Berry, 93, of 304 W. Wainman Ave., died Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2010, at Randolph Hospital.

The funeral was held Feb. 13, 2010, at Pugh Funeral Home. Burial was at Randolph Memorial Park.

She was a Randolph County native and retired nurses aide.

Survivors include nieces and nephews.

Donald H. Brown

ASHEBORO – Donald Huston “Tractor Man” Brown, 70, of 1331 Pine Hill Road, died Thursday, Feb. 11, 2010, at his home.

The funeral was held Feb. 14, 2010, at Hill Top Baptist Church with Pastor Joe Brown officiating. Burial was at the church cemetery.

He was a Randolph County native, retired from Esco Industries and a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Ruby Williamson Brown of the home; sons, Johnny Brown and Randy Brown, both of Asheboro.

Terry L. Coble

RANDLEMAN – Terry Lee Coble, 64, of Randleman, died Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010, at Beacon Place.

The funeral was held Feb. 16, 2010, at Pugh Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth Reaves officiating. Burial was at Randolph Memorial Park.

He was a Flint, Mich., native, widower of Scottie Carrico Coble, lifelong resident of Randleman and real estate broker with Coble Realty.

Survivors include sons, Jay Coble and Jon Coble, both of Asheville; stepdaughter, Vanessa Williams of Pleasant Garden; brother, Jimmy Coble of Asheboro; one grandson.

Wayne N. Dalton

RANDLEMAN – Wayne Nelson Dalton, 69, of 109 Smith Ave., died Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010, at his home.

No service is planned.

He was a Guilford County native, Navy veteran and retired from Lucent Technologies.

Survivors include brothers, Roger Dalton of Stanfordville, N.Y., Larry Dalton of Albuquerque, N.M., and Kenneth Dalton of Wildwood, Fla.



Lenny Eaton

ASHEBORO – Keith Douglas “Lenny” Eaton, 54, of 873 Greystone Road, died Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2010, at his home.

The funeral was held Feb. 12, 2010, at Greystone Baptist Church, where he was a member, with Pastor Steve Parker and Pastor Rocky Patterson officiating. Burial was at Harmony Baptist Church cemetery, Ramseur.

He was a Harrogate, North Yorkshire, England, native, British Royal Navy veteran, formerly employed with the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, youth soccer coach and a founding board member and former president of Asheboro Youth Soccer Association.

Survivors include his wife, Dee Eaton of Asheboro; daughters Sarah Eaton and Sydney Eaton, both of the home; brother, Leslie Eaton of Greensboro.

Troy E. Gallimore Jr.

TRINITY — Troy Edward “Junior” Gallimore Jr., 78, of 8222 US 64 W., died Sunday, Feb. 14, 2010, at his home.

Funeral was Feb. 17 at Tabernacle United Methodist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Hillis Burton, the Rev. Barry Wall and the Rev. Karen Smith officiating. Burial was at the church cemetery.

He was a Randolph County native, owner of Gallimore Packing Plant and Colonial Meat Service, and member of the Cattleman’s Association.

Surviving are wife, Helen Hunt Gallimore of the home; daughters, Sandra Gallimore Snider of Trinity, Kathy Gallimore Smith, Debbie Gallimore Foust, both of Asheboro; sisters, Joyce Lambeth, Lois Parrish, both of Lexington, Shirley Hedrick, Peggy Lambeth, both of Trinity, Norma Hall of Asheboro; brothers, Joe Gallimore of Winston-Salem, Jerry Gallimore of Lexington; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.

Dr. John C. Glenn Jr.

TROY – Dr. John Capers Glenn Jr., 90, of 1302 Old Cox Road, Asheboro, formerly of Troy, died Friday, Feb. 5, 2010, at Randolph Hospital.

The funeral was held Feb. 11, 2010, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Troy, where he was a member, with the Rev. Bobby Tyson officiating. Burial was at Southside Cemetery.

He was an Atlanta native, widow of Mary Ezzell Glenn, Duke University graduate, World War II Navy veteran and radiologist.

Survivors include daughters, Rebecca G. Springer and Nancy G. Collins, both of Charlotte, and Susan G. Yates of Troy; sisters, Loraine G. Simms of Dalesville, Va., and Sarah Modean G. Hill of Tacoma, Wash.; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

Walter B. Glover

SEAGROVE – Walter Bennie Glover, 72, of 7445 Erect Road, died Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010, at his home.

The funeral was held Feb. 12, 2010, at Dove Christian Center, where he was a member, with the Rev. Velma Allen officiating. Burial was at Oakland-McCrary Cemetery.

He was a Chatham County native, Army veteran and retired from the National Education Administration at Washington, D.C.

Survivors include his wife, Lisa Glover of the home; daughters, Sonya Dorsett of Ramseur, and Val Glover and ianetti Glover, both of Washington, D.C.; sons, Josiah Glover of Fayetteville and Walter Benjamin Glover of Honolulu; sisters, Joann Isley and Betty Brown, both of Ramseur.

Minnie A. Graham

ASHEBORO – Minnie Hazel Allen Graham, 93, formerly of 1122 S. Park Drive, died Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010, at Randolph Hospital.

The funeral was held Feb. 11, 2010, at Brown’s Chapel Christian Church in Robbins, with Dr. Ron Hamilton and Pastor Gary Waisner officiating. Burial was at the church cemetery.

She was a Moore County native, widow of Clayton Graham and member of Dogwood Acres Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include children, Tim Graham, Barbara Delk, Roxanne Langley and Mark Graham, all of Asheboro, Michael Graham of Leesburg, Fla., Randall Graham of Sorrento, Fla., Donald Graham of Darlington, S.C., and Susie Harmon of Waynesville; sisters, Pearl Maness of Spies and Tessie Greene of Biscoe; 17 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren.

Lois R. Haithcox

LIBERTY – Lois Christine Routh Haithcox, 82, of Liberty, died Thursday, Feb. 11, 2010, at Randolph Hospital.

The funeral was held Feb. 14, 2010, at Grays Chapel United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Doug Miller and the Rev. Alanda Harris officiating. Burial was at the church cemetery.

She was the widow of Alfred D. Haithcox.

Survivors include daughter, Karen Ward; sons, Stephen Randal Haithcox, Mark Darren Haithcox and Jeffery Dean Haithcox; sisters, Louise Gray and Bernice Kearns; brother, Richard Routh; five grandchildren.

Harold ‘Shorty’ Hines

ASHEBORO – Harold Dean “Shorty” Hines, 75, of 1369 Moore Road, died Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010.

A private service is planned.

He was a Galax, Va., native, Army veteran and retired from Georgia-Pacific.

Survivors include daughters, Becky Hines Hoover of Asheboro and Connie Hines Ittner of Bracey, Va.; sisters, Linda Maness of Franklinville, Jean Turman and Arlene Funk, both of Galax, Va., and OE “Shorty” Hines of Galax, Va.; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.



Steve Hudson

ASHEBORO – Stephen Desso “Steve” Hudson, 59, of 855 Woodcrest Drive, died Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010, at Randolph Hospital.

The funeral was held Feb. 15, 2010, at Pugh Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Ridolfi and the Rev. Connie Weaver officiating. Burial was at Arab Memorial Cemetery, Arab, Ala.

He was an Arab, Ala., native, had worked for Klaussner Furniture and member of First Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include mother, Doris Ford Hudson of Asheboro; brother, Phillip Anthony Hudson of Asheboro.

Juanita C. Luther

ASHEBORO – Juanita Chriscoe Luther, 71, of 1365 U.S. 64 West, died Thursday, Feb. 11, 2010, at her home.

She was a Moore County native and beautician.

Bessie Mae T. McKinney

LIBERTY – Bessie Mae Tysinger McKinney, 93, died Friday, Feb. 12, 2010, at her home.

A graveside service was held Feb. 16, 2010, at Fairview Cemetery with the Rev. Eugene Dean officiating.

She was the widow of George McKinney.

Survivors include daughters, Margie Fogleman and Sylvia Dodson, both of Liberty; son, Joel McKinney of Pleasant Garden; brothers, Don Tysinger and Roby Tysinger, both of Lexington; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren.



Reva B. Morris

ASHEBORO – Reva Edna Bunting Morris, 94, of 400 Vision Drive, died Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2010, at Randolph Hospital.

The funeral was held Feb. 13, 2010, at Ridge Funeral Home with the Rev. Alvin Newcomb and the Rev. Alvin Brooks officiating. Burial was at Pleasant Union Community Church cemetery in Denton.

She was a Randolph County native, widow of Everett M. Morris, retired from L&L; Cleaners and member of Pleasant Union Community Church.

Survivors include daughters, Nancy Ellison of Asheboro and Betsy Craven of Ramseur; sister, Ina Mae Dorsett of Asheboro; brother, Ray Bunting of Asheboro.



Ruby R. Pardue

ASHEBORO – Ruby Ritter Pardue, 81, of 357 Starr Court, died Friday, Feb. 12, 2010, at Randolph Hospital.

The funeral was held Feb 15, 2010, at Belews Creek Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Mike Neal officiating. Burial was at the church cemetery.

She was a Robbins native, widow of Walter Pardue, homemaker and attended Farmer Baptist Church.

Survivors include sisters, Shirley DeHart and Sadie “Dot” Hunt, both of Asheboro, and Brenda Boyd of Randleman; brother, Archie Ritter of Asheboro.



Douglas Q. Smith

ASHEBORO – Douglas Quinton Smith, 70, of 1939 Willow Road, died Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010, at High Point Regional Hospital.

A memorial service was held Feb. 12, 2010, at Pugh Funeral Home with Dr. Donald Haynes officiating.

He was a lifelong Randolph County resident, attended Asheboro City Schools, retired from Overnite Transportation, owner of S&S; Auto, and member of the Loyal Order of Moose Greensboro Lodge, Woodmen of the World, and the ACCA Car Club of America.

Survivors include his wife, Hilda Strider Smith; son, Todd Smith of Asheboro; daughter, Elizabeth Olig of Minneapolis; brother, Stanley Smith of Asheboro; five grandchildren.

RANDLEMAN – Ruth Hopkins Smith, 79, of 391 McCollum St., died Thursday, Feb. 11, 2010, at her home.

She was a Bassett, Va., native, widow of Clabie Smith, retired from Commonwealth Hosiery and member of Poplar Ridge Friends Meeting.

Survivors include daughter, Linda Strawcutter of Wilmington; sons, Wayne Smith of Ramseur, Harry Smith of Southern Pines, David Smith of the home and Edward Smith of Sophia; brothers, Cecil Hopkins of Ramseur and Joseph Hopkins of Randleman; sisters, Iris Hinshaw of Climax and Elvin Gregson of Rocky Mount, Va.; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.

BENNETT – Catherine Brown Stevens, 78, of 7123 Brush Creek Road, died Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2010, at her home.

She was a Randolph County native and retired from Glendale Hosiery.

Survivors include her husband, Ashley Binkley of the home; son, Kenny Baxter of Bennett; sisters, Ruby Branson and Linda Albright, both of Siler City, Velma Welch of Farmer, Irene McNeill of Coleridge and Linda Brown of Seagrove; brothers, Junior Brown and Ronnie Brown, both of Bennett; three grandchildren; three great grandchildren.



Linda G. Suits

STALEY – Linda Faye Glasgow Suits died Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2010, at Moses Cone Hospital.

A graveside service was held Feb. 13, 2010, at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church cemetery with the Rev. Cecil Tucker officiating.

She was a Guilford County native.

Survivors include sons, James Suits II of the home and Joey Glasgow of New York; seven grandchildren.

WILMINGTON – Jayne Allen Wolford, 73, of Wilmington, formerly of High Point, died Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010.

A memorial service was held Feb. 13, 2010, at the High Point Salvation Army, where she was a member.

She was a Lexington native, widow of Rabon Wolford and retired from Klaussner Home Furnishings.

Survivors include daughters, Tami A. Cowan of Wilmington and Kathy W. Cline of Grundy, Va.; son, Jerry Wolford of Randleman; sister, Lee Cooper of Charlotte; brother, Dan Allen of Glassboro, N.J.; four grandchildren; one great-grandson.

SEA LEVEL – James A. Woodell, 64, formerly of Asheboro, died Friday, Feb. 5, 2010.

A memorial service was held Feb. 12, 2010, at Free Union FWB Church in Sea Level, with the Rev. James Gurganus officiating.

He was an Asheboro native and retired from Klaussner Home Furnishings.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Bowerly Woodell of the home; stepson, Roger Bell Ingram of Sea Level; mother, Marie Bean Woodell of Asheboro; sister, Rose W. Hogan of Asheboro.



Charles ‘Bugs’ York

SOPHIA – Charles Eugene “Bugs” York, 61, of Sophia, died Monday, Feb. 8, 2010, at High Point Regional Hospital.

A memorial service was held Feb. 11, 2010, at Pugh Funeral Home in Randleman, with the Rev. Tim Satterfield officiating. Burial was at Randolph Memorial Park.

He was a Randolph County native, Vietnam War Army veteran and member of Faith Wesleyan Church.

Survivors include his wife, Cecile Lineberry York of the home; daughters, Amy Brown of Franklinville and Leigh Lucas of Fayetteville; mother, Nettie York of Asheboro; brothers, Billy York of Franklinville, Shane York of South Carolina and Dennis Hudson of Randleman; sister, Janie Ferguson of Liberty; four grandchildren.
