RAMSEUR – Wanda McMasters Andrews, 50, of Patterson Grove Road, died Friday, Jan. 15, 2010, at Randolph Hospital.

The funeral was held Jan. 19, 2010, at Olivers Chapel AME Zion Church. Burial was at the church cemetery.

She was an Eastern Randolph High School graduate and had worked for Elastic Therapy.

Survivors include her husband, Ricky Andrews of the home; stepson, Demetric Little of Ramseur; stepdaughter, Cheyna Little of Asheboro; sisters, Jessie McMasters, Betty Peoples and Ruth McMasters, all of Staley; brothers, Joe McMasters of Staley and Nathan McMasters of Liberty; one grandchild.



Virginia C. Boyd

RANDLEMAN – Virginia Collins Boyd, 84, formerly of 4444 Bowman Ave., died Friday, Jan. 15, 2010, at Clapps Convalescent Nursing Home.

The funeral was held Jan. 17, 2010, at First Wesleyan Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Don Hurlburt and the Rev. Jerry Buckner officiating. Burial was at Randolph Memorial Park.

She was a native of Max Meadow, Va., widow of James Nelice Boyd and retired from Klaussner Furniture.

Survivors include daughters, Susan Lundy of Asheboro and Robin Davis of Randleman; sons, Kenneth Boyd, Arnold Boyd and Robert Boyd, all of Asheboro; sisters, Norma Jean Posante, Pat Spore and Ella Mae Winnen, all of Ohio, Maxine Tilley of Georgia, Stella Jones of Mount Airy, Christine Logan of Washington and Judy Pichta of Illinois; brothers, Pete Buckner of Michigan, Jerry Buckner of Virginia, John Buckner of Ohio and Bud Buckner of Florida; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

Gene Caveness

RAMSEUR – Edwin Gene Caveness, 66, of Kingsport, Tenn., formerly of Ramseur, died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010, at 6083 Troy Caveness Road, Ramseur.

The funeral was held Jan. 17, 2010, at Parks Cross Roads Christian Church with the Rev. Randy Kelley and the Rev. James Turner officiating. Burial was at the church cemetery.

He was a native of Ramseur, 1966 N.C. State University graduate, worked for DuPont, retired from Savannah River Plant and was a member of the Gideons International.

Survivors include his wife, Mamie Joyce Caveness of the home; daughter, Angela Waters of Franklin, Tenn.; son, Bryant Edwin Caveness of Kingsport, Tenn.; mother, Margaret Gilbert Caveness of Ramseur; sisters, Sandra Caveness Thompson of Eden and Celeste Caveness Clark of Emmelana, Ky.; brothers, Phil Caveness of Ramseur and Hal Caveness of Wilkesboro; five grandchildren.

Gaynell P. Collins

RAMSEUR – Gaynell Powell Collins, 77, of Ramseur, died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2010, at Wesley Long Hospital.

The funeral was held Jan. 14, 2010, at Loflin Funeral Home with Dr. Charles Fleshman officiating. Burial was at Sunset Knoll Cemetery.

She was a native of Wake County, a Baptist, retired from Cornell Electronics, and member of the Society of Amateur Ham Radio Operators and the Possum Trotters.

Survivors include daughter, Michelle Collins Brandon of Pleasant Garden; son, James C. Collins of Whitsett; stepsisters, Donna Galvin of Greensboro and Lou Langston of Galax, Va.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

PLEASANT GARDEN – Janice Henderson Cotner, 66, of 5915 Essex Trail, died Tuesday, Jan.12, 2010, at Randolph Hospital.

A graveside service was held Jan. 15, 2010, at Randolph Memorial Park with the Rev. Brian Smith officiating.

She was a native of Guilford County and retired from Dart Container.

Survivors include her husband, William Cotner of the home; daughter, Yvonne Goins of Asheboro; son, Ryan Cotner of Siler City; mother, Bernice Henderson of Franklinville; sister, Harlene Millikan of Franklinville; brother, Ray Henderson of Level Cross; four grandchildren.



Deborah A. Duncan

ASHEBORO – Deborah Anderson Duncan, 51, of 745 North Lake Drive, died Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010, at her home.

The funeral was held Jan. 16, 2010, at Loflin Funeral Home with the Rev. Burton King officiating. Burial was at Grays Chapel United Methodist Church cemetery.

She was a native of Halifax County, Va., employed by High Point Regional Hospital and a Baptist.

Survivors include daughter, Kristy Crone of Oak Island; sons, Brandon Duncan of Seagrove and Jeremy Griffin of Randleman; mother, Nellie Akers of Asheboro; father, Edison Anderson of Brookneal, Va.; stepfather, Thurman Housand of Asheboro; brothers, Curtis Anderson of Asheboro and Glenn Anderson of Germantown; seven grandchildren.

Betty Jo D. Edwards

STALEY – Betty Jo Denny Edwards, 70, of 880 Shady Grove Church Road, died Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010, at Randolph Hospital.

No service was planned.

She was a native of Wilkes County, homemaker and retired from Sapona Manufacturing.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas Ray Edwards of the home; daughters, Linda Pugh Steelman of Love Valley and Marcia Pugh Offenbacker of Grays Chapel; son, Jimmy Pugh of Grays Chapel; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild.



Edna C. Faust

LIBERTY – Edna Coble Faust, 95, died Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010, at Clapp’s Nursing Center in Pleasant Garden.

The funeral was held Jan. 19, 2010, at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, where she was a member. Burial was at Fairview Cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County and widow of H.A. Faust Sr.

Survivors include a son, H. Al Faust; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.

Faye Dean B. Ingram

GREENSBORO – Faye Dean Brooks Ingram, 60, of 810 Oxford St., died Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010, at Chatham Hospital.

The funeral was held Jan. 18, 2010, at Olivers Chapel AME Zion Church. Burial was at Lakeview Cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County.

Survivors include her mother, Roberta Brooks Nettles of Staley; husband, Cecil Tony Ingram of the home; stepchildren, Carry Hall Ingram and Wanda Hobson Ingram; sisters, Vickie Brooks of Liberty, Debbie Highland of Staley and Anita Nettles of Asheboro; brothers, Larry Brooks of Siler City and Felix Brown of Liberty; stepmother, Lula Brown of Liberty; six step grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren.



Luke Johnson Sr.

ASHEBORO – Asa Luke Thomas Johnson Sr., 82, of 4920 Zoo Parkway, died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010 at his home.

The funeral was held Jan. 15, 2010, at Ridge Funeral Home with Pastor Thomas Johnson, Pastor Jack Kivett and Pastor John Murphy officiating. Burial with military honors was at New Hope Memorial Gardens.

He was a native of Pitt County, World War II Navy veteran, retired from Weyerhaeuser and member of the Church of God of Prophecy.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Johnson of the home; sons, Luke Thomas Johnson Jr. and Gregory James Johnson, both of Asheboro, David Lee Johnson of Durham and John Christopher Johnson of Beaufort; sister, Agnes Marie Ellen of Greensboro; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.



Casey L. Jones

LIBERTY – Casey Lee Jones, 67, of Liberty, died Monday, Jan. 11, 2010, at Chatham Hospital.

A graveside service was held Jan. 15, 2010, at Gilmore Memorial Park. He was the widower of Emma Suits Jones.

Survivors include daughters, Betty Jo Coble, Teresa Coble and Bonnie Jones; son, Tony Jones; brother, Bobby Ray Jones; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.



Henry “Bunny” Linthicum

RANDLEMAN – Henry Edward “Bunny” Linthicum, 88, of Spencer Street, died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010, at Randolph Health & Rehabilitation.

The funeral was held Jan. 16, 2010, at Pugh Funeral Home in Randleman, with the Rev. Don Hurlburt and the Rev. Mark Wilburn officiating. Burial was at Randolph Memorial Park.

He was a native of Guilford County, widower of Callie Linthicum, World War II Navy veteran, retired from the Randleman water plant and member of First Wesleyan Church.

Survivors include stepsons, Charles Michael and Jerry Wayne Michael, both of Nashville, Tenn.; sister, Margaret Hogan of Asheboro; brothers, John Hill, Earl Hill and Bobby Hill, all of Asheboro.



Willie J. Maness

SEAGROVE – Willie J. Maness, 81, of 1576 N.C. 705 South, died Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010, at his home.

The funeral was held Jan. 18, 2010, at Union Grove Baptist Church, where he was a member, with Dr. Ron Chaney, the Rev. Grady Blakely and Pastor Ralph VonCannon officiating. Burial was at the church cemetery.

He was a native of Moore County and retired from Lancer Inc.

Survivors include his wife, Mabel Upton Maness of the home; sisters, Pauline Reeder, Ruby Beane and Gladys Beane, all of Seagrove.

Gary G. Oestreich

RAMSEUR – Gary Gene Oestreich, 67, of 534 Columbia Ave., died Friday, Jan. 15, 2010, at Randolph Hospital.

No service was planned. He was a native of Oshkosh, Wis., Army veteran and retired carpenter.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Green Oestreich of the home; four children; four grandchildren.

Sue B. Overman

LIBERTY – Hattie Sue Bunton Overman, 78, died Friday, Jan. 15, 2010, at Durham Regional Hospital.

A memorial service was held Jan. 17, 2010, at Pleasant Hill Christian Church with the Rev. Howard Spray and the Rev. Noah Albarez officiating.

She was the widow of Robert Glenn Overman.

Survivors include a daughter, Edith Lorraine Overman; brother, Andy Bunton.



Emmogene G. Pearce

TRINITY – Emmogene Gordon Pearce, 91, formerly of Gallimore Town Road, died Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010, at Hospice Home of High Point.

The funeral was held Jan. 19, 2010, at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Douglas Stevens and Bishop William Curlin officiating. Burial was at Westfield Baptist Church cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County, widow of Hosea W. Pearce, attended Westfield Baptist Church and retired from Carolina Underwear.

Survivors include daughters, Joyce Hedrick and Faye Hill, both of Thomasville, and Carolyn Sabates of Charlotte; sisters, Lena Kearns of Asheboro, Lois Summey and Evelyn Lambeth, both of Thomasville, and Jackelyn Davis of Greensboro; brother, Carl Gordon of Lexington; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.

Brian E. Radabaugh

RAMSEUR – Brian Eugene Radabaugh, 29, of Charleston, W.Va., formerly of Ramseur, died Sunday, Jan. 10, 2010.

The funeral was held Jan. 16, 2010, at Loflin Funeral Home with the Rev. John Murphy officiating. Burial was at Sunset Knoll Cemetery.

He was a native of Franklin County, Ohio, employed as a construction worker and attended the Church of God of Prophecy.

Survivors include daughters, Kiersten Radabaugh, Neveh Faith Radabaugh and Taylor Radabaugh, all of Dunbar, W.Va.; son, Brian Radabaugh Jr. of Dunbar, W.Va.; mother, Sharon Edna Honaker of Ramseur; sisters, Tracy Kennedy and Christene Beck, both of Ramseur, Lisa Kennedy of Shallotte, Veronica Parks of Wagrum, and Melissa Star of Elberton, Ga.; brother, Kenneth Dean Kennedy of Ramseur.

ASHEBORO – Helen V. Ratledge, 92, of 514 Vision Drive, died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010, at Carolina House.

A graveside service was held Jan. 15, 2010, at Randolph Memorial Park.

She was a native of Tennessee, widow of Ralph Ratledge and member of Balfour Baptist Church.

Survivors include caregiver and friend, Marie R. Boswell of Asheboro; sisters-in-law, Genelle Knight of High Point and Ethel Vaughn of Lenoir City, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews.

TRINITY – Dorothy Carscaddon Small, 88, of Jim Pierce Road, died Friday, Jan. 15, 2010, at her home.

The funeral was held Jan. 18, 2010, at High Rock Baptist Church, where she attended, with the Rev. Ray Swaney and the Rev. Darrell Summey officiating. Burial was at Pierce’s Chapel Primitive Baptist Church cemetery.

She was a native of Rowan County, widow of Fred Small and former textile worker.

Survivors include son, Robert “Buddy” Small of Denton; daughter, Linda Vuncannon of Asheboro; brother, William R. “Bill” Carscaddon of Salisbury; sisters, Ruby Kluttz of Salisbury and Ruth McDermott of Milford, Ohio; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren.

Caroll J. Stutts

SEAGROVE – Caroll Junior Stutts, 63, of Seagrove, died Monday, Jan. 11, 2010, at Randolph Hospital.

The funeral was held Jan. 15, 2010, at Pugh Funeral Home with the Rev. Howard Moffitt and Pastor Darren Richardson officiating. Burial was at Union Grove Baptist Church cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County and employed by Klaussner Furniture.

Survivors include a daughter, Angela Stutts of Asheboro; sisters, Dot Brown of Robbins and Joyce Stutts of Candor; brother, Charles Stutts of Robbins.



Mary A. Swink

CHARLOTTE – Mary Andrews Swink, 87, of Charlotte, formerly of Asheboro, died Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010, at Mercy Hospital.

A memorial service was held Jan. 18, 2010, at Myers Park United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with Dr. James Howell and the Rev. Bill Roth officiating.

She was a native of Asheboro, graduate of Asheboro High School, High Point University and UNC-Charlotte, widow of the Rev. Dr. Ray Franklin Swink, retired school teacher and member of the Beta Sigman Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma.

Survivors include a daughter, Sandra Swink Bobbitt; sister, Ina Elizabeth Andrews of Asheboro; two grandchildren.

ASHEBORO – Joseph Tinty Upchurch, 87, of 712 Worth St., died Monday, Jan. 11, 2010, at Randolph Hospital.

A graveside service with military honors was held Jan. 14, 2010, at Oaklawn Cemetery with the Rev. Carl Dunker and the Rev. Tom Benedict officiating.

He was a native of Moore County, World War II Army veteran, retired from Asheboro Furniture and volunteered with the Randolph County Volunteer Program.

Survivors include his wife, Lounette Harper Upchurch; daughter, Jo Anne Ganey of Asheboro; sister, Virginia Hill of High Falls.



Clifford VanVliet Sr.

ASHEBORO – Clifford Alan VanVliet Sr., 79, of 400 Vision Drive, died Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010, at Randolph Hospital.

The funeral was held Jan. 18, 2010, at Friendship Baptist Church with the Rev. Tommy Kidd officiating. Burial was at Oaklawn Cemetery.

He was was a native of Poughskeepsie, N.Y., and retired from the U.S. Postal Service.

Survivors include sons, Clifford A. VanVliet Jr. of Asheboro, Daniel VanVliet of Fort Washington, Md., and Robert VanVliet of York Spring, Penn.; daughter, Cheryl VanVliet of Rockville, Md.; brother, Robert VanVliet of Pinehurst; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.



Virginia W. Ward

FRANKLINVILLE – Virginia Williams Ward, 90, of 3554 Old Liberty Road, died Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010, at Randolph Hospital.

The funeral was held Jan. 17, 2010, at Bethany United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Russell Brownworth officiating. Burial was at the church cemetery.

She was a native of Carthage and homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Kenneth T. Ward of the home; daughters, Judith W. Newell of McLeansville, JoAnne W. Higgins of Asheboro and Regina W. Allen of Pleasant Garden; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one step grandchild.

LIBERTY – Nancy Mariah Humble Wicker, 65, of Liberty, died Monday, Jan. 11, 2010, at her home.

Survivors include her husband, Paul Wayne Wicker of the home; sister, Ellen Lineberry of Liberty; brothers, Clyde Ray Humble of Liberty and John Humble of Climax.

ASHEBORO – Bernice Cagle Wright, 72, formerly of Asheboro, died Sunday, Jan. 10, 2010, at Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington.

The funeral was held Jan. 13, 2010, at Pugh Funeral Home with the Rev. Tommy Kidd officiating. Burial was at Oaklawn Cemetery.

She was a native of Asheboro, widow of Cecil Wright and formerly employed by Asheboro Sock.

Survivors include brother, Willie Cagle of Asheboro; nephews and nieces.

RANDLEMAN – King Henry York, 72, of 1325 Worthville Road, died Sunday, Jan. 10, 2010, at Hospice Home of High Point.

The funeral was held Jan. 16, 2010, at Holly’s Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Mark Ainsworth and the Rev. Tommy Fuquay officiating. Burial was at the church cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County and had worked at Prestige Fabricators.

Survivors include his wife, Jerrie York of the home; daughters, Tina Oxendine of the home and Sandra Lee Manuel of Ruffin; son, James Raymond York of Randleman; brother, Steve York of Asheboro; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
