RANDLEMAN —
Three Randleman residents were in the Randolph County Jail under a $150,000 bond late Friday afternoon after being charged with luring a man out of his home early Friday, attacking him and then stealing two guns, according to a release from the Randolph County Sheriff's Department.
According to the release, deputies responded to a burglary call at 345 Colonial Loop Road in Randleman and found that 68-year-old Jerry Maurice Short had been injured during the attack. He was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Jordan Tyler Adams, 18, of 109 Russell Walker Ave. in Randleman, and Laura Ann Smrzlick, 20, of Lot 14, Moore Ave. in Randleman, were found at the end of Colonial Loop Road when deputies responded. The third suspect was identified as Jeremy Darren Hinson, 17, of 6223 Davis Mill Road in Randleman.
Smrzlick was shot during the incident. She was treated and released from Randolph Hospital.
Hinson, Adams and Smrzlick were each charged with one count of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury or intent to kill and felony breaking and entering. They also were each charged with two counts of larceny of a firearm and possession of a stolen firearm.
The investigating is ongoing. More charges could be filed.
