Wednesday, March 13, 2013 —
The Randolph County Partnership for Children’s volunteers are gearing up for the fifth annual Gala for the Children to be held Saturday, April 13, at Kyle and Pattie Petty’s Adaumont Farm. The event will be held from 6:30 to 11 p.m.
Each year the Gala is themed around a well-known children’s book, emphasizing the Partnership’s focus on family literacy and the importance of reading to children from a very young age. To bring a modern twist to a timeless classic, the 2013 Gala for the Children is called “Mother Goose on the Loose.”
“The Gala is our major fund-raiser and it was created to place funds in our endowment to ensure we have funds to sustain programs for young children,” said Partnership Executive Director Pauline McKee. “We also raise funds to sponsor children for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library.”
The evening will feature a buffet dinner, expansive dessert bar, dancing, and live and silent auctions. Grove Winery and Vineyards will showcase their wines and Natty Greene’s Brewing Co. will provide beer. The Attractions Band, which is in the Carolina Beach Music Hall of Fame, is back by popular demand and is sure to offer a fun-filled evening of dancing to beach, shag and oldies favorites.
The live and silent auctions will feature unique items ranging from gift baskets, art, pottery, jewelry, autographed sports memorabilia, travel and experiences.
A large number of volunteers from the across the county are working together to make the event a success. Honorary co-chairs are Bill and Ann Hoover. Committee chairs include Linda Bean, silent auction; Stacy Griffin and Bert Lance-Stone, sponsorships; Deborah Smith, desserts committee; Duffy Johnson, live auction; Wayne Jarrell, set-up; and Janice Spainhour, Archdale-Trinity committee.
“We appreciate the community’s support for the Gala. The momentum is high this year and we anticipate another sold out event,” said Duffy Johnson, board chair of the Partnership.
MOM Brands is returning as a presenting sponsor for this year’s event. Other sponsors include Acme-McCrary/Sapona Foundation; Advisors Financial Center — Chris and Neal Griffin; Ann and Tommy Cranford; Archdale Drug Co.; Asheboro Fire & Security; Bank of the Carolinas; Carolina Bank; Chris and Stacy Griffin; Commonwealth Hosiery Mills; Community One; David and Bonnie Renfro; Dr. and Mrs. James M. The event would not be possible without the many sponsors who have committed for a number of years.”
