ASHEBORO — The Greater Greensboro Teen Challenge, a residential ministry for young men 18 to 45 with substance abuse problems, raised more than $10,500 at its 10th annual golf tournament held June 8 at Tot Hill Golf Club in Asheboro.

Teen Challenge operates solely on contributions and is not church-affiliated or part of any government entity. The Tot Hill event is one of two golf fund-raisers annually benefitting the home, the other being scheduled for Greensboro’s Grandover Resort on Aug. 14.

The total raised was $10,537.82.

“I want to express my profound appreciation to the Asheboro community for its continued support of this humanitarian project, and to the committee that made the arrangements for the gifts, prizes, food and all the elements that contributed to such a successful event,” said Dennis Kyseth, GGTC’s executive director. “The Tot Hill ownership and club staff left nothing to chance in making the outing thoroughly enjoyable for participants. We look forward to an ongoing relationship with this fine group.”

Though Teen Challenge is not subsidized by any specific church or denomination, it relies heavily on support from church groups who recognize the value of its ministry in assisting young men find a new life without addictions.
