ASHEBORO —
The City of Asheboro will hold two public meetings Sept. 14 to discuss the city’s retail recruitment efforts and to share consumer research. The presenter at both meetings will be Chip Rogers with the Buxton Company, a customer analytics firm that is working with the city for economic development.
“This is a unique opportunity to have our business community come together to talk about how we can be more successful recruiting and developing the types of businesses our citizens want,” said City Manager John Ogburn.
The first meeting will be held at 10 a.m., and will cover the city’s retail recruitment efforts. The goal of this meeting is to find ways for property owners, developers, commercial real estate agents and the city to work together to attract new and desired retail shops and restaurants.
The second meeting will be held at 6 p.m. and will cover consumer research, and is intended for current business owners or anyone interested in starting a business. The city hopes to find ways to help connect potential business owners with the information they need to get started.
“There are a lot of people in Asheboro who have told us that they’d like to have more stores and restaurants so that they can spend their money here in Asheboro instead of in neighboring cities,” said Mayor David Smith. “We want to do this, while also working to make sure that our existing businesses continue to prosper.”
The deadline to RSVP to attend is Sept. 3. To RSVP, call (336) 626-1201, extension 218 or send an e-mail to cfletcher@ci.asheboro.nc.us.
