Post 81 AL Juniors take 2 of 3 games

RAMSEUR — The Eastern Randolph Junior American Legion baseball squad chalked up two victories in three games last week.

In a twinbill at Grady Lawson Field, Post 81 won 12-7 over Western Alamance but in the nightcap fell to a late Asheboro rally to drop a 8-6 verdict.

Earlier in the week Eastern Randolph deal Randleman its first league defeat with a 7-5 win. In an earlier clash with Asheboro, Eastern Randolph posted a 6-5 win.

The action gave Eastern Randolph a 10-3 record in the conference and 11-3 overall.

Post 81 jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the most recent game with Asheboro, thanks to a three-run rally in the bottom of the first inning.

Eastern Randolph added two runs in the third and led 6-0 in the fifth. In the top of the fifth, Asheboro began its comeback with three runs, then took the lead with four more in the sixth.

Landon Allen started on the mound for Eastern Randolph and retired the first seven batters, but had to leave in the fifth with a hip injury. Ethan Clark, Aubry Bowers and Caleb Kidd all had two hits.

Dylan Adams and Zac Morgan topped Asheboro with two hits apiece, with Adams the winning pitcher in relief.

Against Western Alamance, Post 81 used a seven-run sixth inning to post the victory. Eastern Randolph led 6-5 entering the frame and sent 11 batters to the plate.

Christian Snyder started the rally with a leadoff hit. Then with two on and two outs, Clark, Kidd, Bowers, Chase Arrington, Brennon Ratley and Snyder came through with RBI hits.

Kidd led the 16-hit attack with three safeties while Snyder, Arrington, Clark and Freeman had two each. Starting pitcher Derek Belavis went the distance to earn the win.

A night earlier at Randleman, Eastern Randolph pushed across a run in the sixth and staged a two-run rally in the seventh to capture the win in a battle of league leaders.

Starting pitcher Freeman worked the first six innings to notch the win, with Snyder earning a save in relief. Clark went 4-for-4, including a double, four stolen bases and three RBI.
